The Zimbabwe Psychological Association (ZPA) is proud to support a diverse community of psychologists and professionals dedicated to understanding and improving the human mind. Our organisation is home to a wide range of specialised divisions, each focused on exploring unique aspects of psychology. From the Climate, Environment, and Psychology Community to the Trauma and Violence Division, our divisions offer opportunities for collaboration and growth within specific areas of interest. Specialized Divisions

Clinical Psychology Division

Focuses on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders and psychological distress. Clinical psychologists work in hospitals, clinics, and private practice, providing evidence-based interventions for conditions like depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. They conduct psychological testing and offer therapeutic services to individuals across the lifespan.

Counselling Psychology Division

Emphasizes personal growth, adjustment, and wellbeing through supportive therapeutic relationships. Counselling psychologists address life transitions, relationship issues, career concerns, and mild to moderate mental health challenges. They work in schools, universities, community centers, and private settings, promoting emotional resilience and adaptive coping strategies.

Educational Psychology Division

Concentrates on learning processes, academic achievement, and educational environments. Educational psychologists assess learning difficulties, giftedness, and behavioral problems in schools. They develop intervention programs, consult with teachers and parents, and advocate for inclusive education policies that support all learners' cognitive and social-emotional development.

Neuropsychology Division

Specializes in brain-behavior relationships, assessing cognitive functions following neurological injuries, diseases, or developmental conditions. Neuropsychologists evaluate memory, attention, language, and executive functions, providing rehabilitation recommendations for stroke survivors, traumatic brain injury patients, and individuals with neurodegenerative conditions.

Community Psychology Division

Promotes social justice, community empowerment, and population-level mental health interventions. Community psychologists work with marginalised groups, conducting needs assessments, developing prevention programmes, and addressing systemic inequalities affecting psychological well-being in Zimbabwean communities.

Occupational Psychology Division

Applies psychological principles to workplace settings, focusing on employee wellbeing, organizational development, and productivity. Occupational psychologists conduct job analyses, talent assessments, leadership training, and workplace interventions addressing stress, motivation, and organizational culture.

Forensic Psychology Division

Interfaces psychology with legal systems, conducting criminal responsibility evaluations, risk assessments, and expert testimony. Forensic psychologists work with courts, prisons, and law enforcement, assessing offenders, supporting victims, and advising on rehabilitation programs within Zimbabwe's justice system.

Research Division

Advances psychological science through empirical studies addressing Zimbabwean contexts. Research psychologists investigate cultural factors, develop locally relevant assessment tools, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and contribute evidence informing policy and practice across all psychological domains.
