Interest groups are the heart of ZPA’s specialized work, bringing together passionate professionals to make meaningful differences in their areas of expertise. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or early in your career, there’s a place for you to contribute, learn, and grow within a ZPA interest group.
Join us in advancing psychology and mental health in Zimbabwe—one interest group at a time.
A ZPA interest group is a specialised subgroup within the Zimbabwe Psychological Association consisting of members who share a common interest or expertise in a specific area of psychology. These groups facilitate networking, advocacy, professional development, research collaboration, and community building among members with similar interests, aligning with ZPA’s mission and values to promote excellence and ethical behaviour in psychology in the Zimbabwean context. They collaborate with various organisations and engage with the public to mobilise support for their causes while operating within legal and ethical guidelines and upholding principles of transparency and accountability in alignment with ZPA’s core values.
To formulate an interest group within the Zimbabwe Psychological Association, coordinators must identify a specific psychology area needing attention and gather support from at least 10 committed ZPA members. A comprehensive proposal including the group’s name, purpose, objectives, founding members, leadership structure, and planned activities should be submitted to info@zpazim.org. After a 4-6 week Board review evaluating relevance and feasibility, approved groups receive provisional status for 12 months and must demonstrate engagement through regular meetings, projects, and quarterly reports. Upon successful completion of the provisional year with sustained engagement and adherence to ethical guidelines, groups gain full recognition status with voting representation and funding eligibility. Interest groups that recruit 50 full members become eligible for divisional status through a written request reviewed at council meetings and approved at the Annual General Meeting.
